Position Title: Director of Partnerships

Location: Fully remote (Chicago preferred) 

Reports to: Managing Director 

Status: Full-time, exempt

Position Summary

The Director of Partnerships is responsible for cultivating, maintaining and supporting strong relationships with local and national partners for Project Unloaded. The Director will drive Project Unloaded’s partnership strategy and manage the overall partner portfolio. The position reports to the Managing Director and will manage one or more direct reports.

Through large-scale, data-backed social media campaigns, original research, teen-facing local programs, and inspiring youth leaders, we combine young people’s love of social media with a gun violence prevention message that can reduce gun use and save lives.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Create and implement strategies that promote strong relationships with local and national partners to advance Project Unloaded’s mission via its campaigns, youth engagement programs and policy research
  • Regularly communicate with existing and prospective partners. Lead the full lifecycle of partnership development from strategic prospecting and pipeline management to closing new, values-aligned collaborations that drive organizational impact, including:
    • Youth-serving partners across the country to deliver our curriculum and toolkit 
    • Corporate, nonprofit, and other partners that support or amplify our theory of change or campaigns 
  • Lead marketing, assessment, and ongoing growth of our activity guide designed for groups of young people and youth-serving organizations interested in our message
  • Negotiate and manage partnership agreements
  • Manage the creation of partner materials and resources, including curricula, activity guides, participant forms, toolkits and web-based information, managing staff and contractors where needed
  • Work with the team to develop social media and campaign content using materials generated through partner programs
  • Supervise Associate Director of Youth Engagement in delivering consistent and effective programing for teens in Chicago and elsewhere
  • Lead partner recruitment and facilitator training for in-school and afterschool/summer programs for young people outside Chicago 
  • Some travel required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • At least 5-7 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience developing and leading projects
  • Track record of managing and developing staff
  • Experience working with young people and developing youth leadership 
  • Experience prospecting and developing corporate and/or nonprofit partnerships 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well on a team
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Extremely well organized, detail-oriented, and analytical
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strong problem-solving skills, and creative thinking skills
  • Flexibility and an openness to evolving responsibilities
  • Experience in a non-profit, start-up environment a plus

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $115,000 – $125,000, depending on experience

Benefits:  Comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance; 3% automatic contribution and a 3% employer match on 401(k) contributions; and paid holiday, sick, and unlimited flexible time off.

Position Title: Digital Associate

Location: Fully remote

Reports to: Managing Director

Status: Full-time, exempt

 

Position Summary 

Project Unloaded has an immediate opening for a Digital Associate to support its social media strategy, content creation, and text message program. The person in this role will lead Project Unloaded’s work to build an engaged online movement of Gen Z supporters and allies, and work closely with its Youth Council and Creator Corps as a partner in these efforts.

Ideal candidates for this role will be passionate about social media, working with young people and interested in creatively spreading the message that more guns make us less safe. Through Project Unloaded’s text program and social media accounts, this staff member will be tasked with envisioning new and creative ways to spread our message and growing the movement to change gun culture. 

The position is fully remote however some travel is required. Project Unloaded’s team currently works in east coast and central time zones. The person in this role would be expected to maintain office hours in either of those time zones, depending on their preference.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Social Media Management:
    • Design a strategy and set goals for social media accounts and maintain a posting calendar in service of that strategy and goals
    • Create graphics and videos (often with support from youth leaders, sometimes featuring the person in this role) designed for Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn
    • Post content and monitor audience response
    • Create monthly social analytics reports with the goal of continually optimizing content
  • Collaborating with Young Leaders:
    • Work closely with members of our Youth Council and Creator Corps on   content to help grow Project Unloaded’s Gen Z-focused social media accounts (Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat)
  • SMS Program: 
    • Manage Project Unloaded’s texting program designed to engage young people and adult supporters
  • Monitor news and social media for news and trends that would make for strong brand-appropriate content
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Comply with Project Unloaded’s Minor Protection Policy

Qualifications

  • Experience running a social media platform for an organization or campaign
  • Minimum of 2 years of digital experience, including at least 1 with  a Gen Z focus
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission
  • Experience developing and leading projects 
  • Experience working with teens and/or college-age youth
  • Organized, creative and entrepreneurial approach to work
  • Problem solving skills, comfort speaking in front of groups
  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and track record of meeting deadlines
  • Flexibility and an openness to evolving responsibilities
  • Experience in a non-profit, start-up environment a plus

Hours per week: Up to 35 hours/week for 8 weeks

 

Position Summary  

Project Unloaded is hiring a Marketing and Advertising Intern for Summer 2025. The intern will support and help create content for Project Unloaded’s Gen Z-facing advertising campaigns. The intern will also support education and outreach work on Project Unloaded’s campaigns and theory of change. Eligible applicants will be incoming or current college students.

Project Unloaded works to prevent gun violence by educating, engaging, and empowering teens through cultural campaigns and community partnerships that share a simple message: guns make us less safe. We sit at the intersection of public health, youth engagement, social marketing and culture. Through large-scale, data-backed social media campaigns that have reached a quarter of 13-17-year-olds nationwide, teen-facing local programs, and an inspiring youth council, we combine young people’s love of social media with a gun violence prevention message that can reduce gun use and save lives.                                                                         

Responsibilities and Tasks 

  • Using brand guidelines provided by Project Unloaded, create content for Project Unloaded’s teen-facing campaigns
  • Use Canva to edit and create short videos and graphics
  • Draft ad content and work with teens and young adults in Project Unloaded’s network to bring them to life
  • Analyze campaign data and provide recommendations for content optimizations  
  • Develop marketing materials such as pitches, releases, social media posts and emails to supporters
  • Monitor press stories related to gun violence and culture change for social media posting and/or sharing with the Project Unloaded team

 

Compensation and Benefits 

Salary: $15/hour
