Position Title: Director of Partnerships

Location: Fully remote (Chicago preferred) 

Reports to: Managing Director 

Status: Full-time, exempt

Position Summary

The Director of Partnerships is responsible for cultivating, maintaining and supporting strong relationships with local and national partners for Project Unloaded. The Director will drive Project Unloaded’s partnership strategy and manage the overall partner portfolio. The position reports to the Managing Director and will manage one or more direct reports.

Project Unloaded works to prevent gun violence by educating, engaging, and empowering teens through cultural campaigns and community partnerships that share a simple message: guns make us less safe. We sit at the intersection of public health, youth engagement, social marketing and culture. Through large-scale, data-backed social media campaigns, teen-facing local programs, and an inspiring youth council, we combine young people’s love of social media with a gun violence prevention message that can reduce gun use and save lives.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Create and implement strategies that promote strong relationships with local and national partners to advance Project Unloaded’s mission 
  • Regularly communicate with existing and prospective partners 
  • Proactively seek new partnerships 
  • Negotiate and manage partnership agreements
  • Manage the creation of partner materials and resources, including curricula, activity guides, participant forms, toolkits and web-based information, managing staff and contractors where needed
  • Work with the team to plan social media content using materials generated through partner programs
  • Supervise Program Manager for Community Partnerships in delivering consistent and effective programing for teens
  • Support the Digital and Organizing Associate in managing the Youth Council for partnership-related projects 
  • Some travel required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Comply with Project Unloaded’s Minor Protection Policy

 Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • At least 5-7 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience developing and leading projects
  • Track record of managing and developing staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well on a team
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Extremely well organized, detail-oriented, and analytical
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strong problem-solving skills, and creative thinking skills
  • Flexibility and an openness to evolving responsibilities
  • Experience in a non-profit, start-up environment a plus

 

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $110,000 – $125,000, depending on experience

Benefits:  Comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance; 3% automatic contribution and a 3% employer match on 401(k) contributions; and paid holiday, sick, and unlimited flexible time off.

Position Title: Digital and Organizing Associate

Location: Fully remote

Reports to: Managing Director

Status: Full-time, non-exempt

Position Summary 

Project Unloaded has an immediate opening for a Digital and Organizing Associate to support its Youth Council, social media strategy and content creation, and text message program. The person in this role will lead Project Unloaded’s work to build an engaged online movement of Gen Z supporters and allies, and mobilize its Youth Council as a partner in these efforts.

This role should be filled by someone passionate about social media, working with young people and interested in creatively spreading the message that more guns make us less safe. Through Project Unloaded’s text program, social media accounts and Youth Council, this staff member will be tasked with envisioning new and creative ways to spread our key message and growing the movement to change gun culture. The position is fully remote however some travel is required.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Digital Organizing:
    • Working closely with our Youth Council and Creator Corps, develop and plan content to grow Project Unloaded’s social media accounts (Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat)
    • Create social media content, including graphics and videos (the person in this role should expect to appear in content themselves) 
  • Project Unloaded Youth Council:
    • Co-create and support Youth Council programs and projects
    • Maintain regular communications with Youth Council members
    • Manage the annual recruitment and selection process for new Youth Council members
    • Plan and facilitate Project Unloaded’s annual in-person Youth Council retreat
  • SMS Program: Execute SMS program with 3-4 outgoing messages each month and manage any incoming text responses from our audiences
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Comply with Project Unloaded’s Minor Protection Policy

Qualifications

  • Experience running or contributing to a social media platform for an organization or campaign
  • Minimum of 1 year of organizing or digital experience, preferably with a Gen Z focus
  • Experience developing and leading projects 
  • Experience working with teens and/or college-age youth
  • Organized, creative and entrepreneurial approach to work
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission
  • Problem solving skills, comfort speaking in front of groups
  • An ability to create environments that foster listening, learning and positive group dynamics
  • Flexibility and an openness to evolving responsibilities
  • Experience in a non-profit, start-up environment a plus

Hours per week: Up to 40 hours/week for up to 10 weeks

Position Summary  
Project Unloaded is excited to hire a Community Engagement Intern for Summer 2024. The intern will further Project Unloaded’s Community Partner Program by supporting the creation of a toolkit of resources for teens and youth organizations interested in reducing gun violence by changing cultural narratives around gun use. In addition, this intern will also support implementation of Project Unloaded’s summer 2024 programs in Chicago and Sacramento. Eligible applicants will be incoming and current college or graduate students. 

About Project Unloaded 
The mission of Project Unloaded is to create a new cultural narrative that guns make us less safe. Research shows that teens and young adults are forming opinions and making decisions about guns. Through creative and cultural campaigns, Project Unloaded establishes safe spaces for open conversations about guns and provides accurate information about gun ownership to inspire the next generation to choose on their own terms not to own or use guns. 

Responsibilities and Tasks 

  • Support the creation of a toolkit for teens and teen-serving organizations interested in addressing gun violence through narrative and culture change
  • Research potential community partnerships in Project Unloaded’s key areas of focus
  • Manage relevant partnerships for toolkit creation
  • Provide technical support for community-based organizations implementing Project Unloaded programming 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary: $15/hour
