A city-wide pitch competition Tuesday allowed Black youth to present creative ways to transform the effects of gun violence as it disproportionately affects their demographic.
The event was sponsored by two nonprofits that focus on gun violence reduction, Project Unloaded and Youth Empowerment for Advancement Hangout, also known as YEAH Philly.
Tuesday’s competition at REC Philly is part of the nonprofits’ campaign to involve Black youth ages 15 to 24 in Philadelphia to change the narrative and showcase how gun violence has affected their lives.
